Research
My current research is focused on examining the etiological link between occupational exposures and cancer. I am particularly interested in the epidemiological analysis of time-dependent variables, where is important not only the duration of exposure, but also how long ago it took place, as well as the age of the subject.
Many of the exposures included in occupational databases are time-dependent variables: e.g. cigarette smoking, and most occupational exposures. I am involved in examining several different exposure indices depending on time of exposure, time since exposure, and intensity, in order to assess the best way to account for the association between exposure and cancer, while carefully controlling for the potential confounding effect of cigarette smoking and socio-demographic factors.
